Abstract

The objectives of study was to investigate the treatment outcomes of first premolar extraction with lingual appliance with anterior vertical slots in bialveolar protrusion patients. Eight samples with bialveolar protrusion included only patients who were treated with the extraction of four first premolars. The cephalometric landmarks (dental, skeletal, and soft tissue) of initial and final cephalometric radiographs were measured. To verify changes between pretreatment and posttreatment within each group, a Wilcoxon signed rank test was undertaken. The amount of retraction was gained (?4.44¡¾2.21 mm) with torque changes of ?13.06¡¾5.40¡Æ. The significant changes in the anchorage loss was observed. The lever arm mechanics with vertical ribbonwise slots can establish adequate torque in the maxillary anterior teeth during the space closure. However, it was difficult to control the horizontal anchorage loss.
